So the peoplecameto Betheland sattherebeforeGoduntilevening,and liftedup their voicesand weptbitterly.
Esausaidto his father,"Do you have only oneblessing,my father?Blessme, [even] me also,O my father."So Esauliftedhis voiceand wept.
Then the wholecongregationof the sonsof Israelassembledthemselves at Shiloh,and setup the tentof meetingthere;and the landwas subduedbeforethem.
When the angelof the LORDspokethesewordsto allthe sonsof Israel,the peopleliftedup their voicesand wept.
Now the sonsof Israelarose,wentup to Bethel,and inquiredof Godand said,"Whoshall goup firstfor us to battleagainstthe sonsof Benjamin?"Then the LORDsaid,"Judah[shall go up] first."
The sonsof Israelwentup and weptbeforethe LORDuntilevening,and inquiredof the LORD,saying,"Shall we againdrawnearfor battleagainstthe sonsof my brotherBenjamin?"And the LORDsaid,"Goup againsthim."
Then allthe sonsof Israeland allthe peoplewentup and cameto Betheland wept;thus they remainedtherebeforethe LORDand fastedthat dayuntilevening.And they offeredburntofferingsand peaceofferingsbeforethe LORD.
And they foundamongthe inhabitantsof Jabesh-gilead400youngvirginswhohad not knowna manby lyingwith him; and they broughtthem to the campat Shiloh,whichis in the landof Canaan.
They said,"Why,O LORD,Godof Israel,has thiscomeabout in Israel,so that onetribeshould be [missing] todayin Israel?"
Then the messengerscameto Gibeahof Sauland spokethese wordsin the hearingof the people,and allthe peopleliftedup their voicesand wept.
Then Davidand the peoplewhowere with him liftedtheir voicesand weptuntiltherewas nostrengthin them to weep.
