When he had setfireto the torches,he releasedthe foxes into the standinggrainof the Philistines,thus burningup boththe shocksand the standinggrain,alongwith the vineyards[and] groves.
Therefore he saidto his servants,"See,Joab'sfieldis nextto mine, and he has barleythere;goand setit on fire."So Absalom'sservantssetthe fieldon fire.
"Ifa firebreaksout and spreadsto thornbushes,so that stackedgrain orthe standinggrainorthe field[itself] is consumed,he who startedthe fireshall surelymakerestitution.
but [on] the seventhyearyou shall letit restand liefallow,so that the needyof your peoplemay eat;and whatever they leavethe beastof the fieldmay eat.You are to dothe samewith your vineyard[and] your olivegrove.
Samsonwentand caughtthreehundredfoxes,and tooktorches,and turned[the foxes] tailto tailand putonetorchin the middlebetweentwotails.
Then the Philistinessaid,"Whodidthis?"And they said,"Samson,the son-in-lawof the Timnite,becausehe tookhis wifeand gaveher to his companion."So the Philistinescameup and burnedher and her fatherwith fire.
