Then Samsonsaidto them, "Let me nowpropounda riddleto you; ifyou will indeedtellit to me within the sevendaysof the feast,and findit out, then I will giveyou thirtylinenwrapsand thirtychangesof clothes.
To eachof them he gavechangesof garments,but to Benjaminhe gavethreehundred[pieces of] silverand fivechangesof garments.
Now when the queenof Shebaheardabout the fameof Solomonconcerning the nameof the LORD,she cameto testhim with difficultquestions.
He said,"All is well.My masterhas sentme, saying,'Behold,justnowtwoyoungmenof the sonsof the prophetshave cometo me from the hillcountryof Ephraim.Pleasegivethem a talentof silverand twochangesof clothes.'"
Then the kingof Aramsaid,"Gonow,and I will senda letterto the kingof Israel."He departedand tookwith him tentalentsof silverand sixthousand[shekels] of goldand tenchangesof clothes.
So Solomonobservedthe feastat that timefor sevendays,and allIsraelwith him, a verygreatassembly[who came] from the entranceof Hamathto the brookof Egypt.
I will inclinemy earto a proverb;I will expressmy riddleon the harp.
To understanda proverband a figure,The wordsof the wiseand their riddles.
She makeslinengarmentsand sells[them], And suppliesbeltsto the tradesmen.
"Sonof man,propounda riddleand speaka parableto the houseof Israel,
Then I said,"AhLordGOD!They are sayingof me, 'Is he not [just] speakingparables?'"
"ThereforeI speakto them in parables;becausewhile seeingthey do not see,and while hearingthey do not hear,nordo they understand.
Allthese thingsJesusspoketo the crowdsin parables,and He did not speakto them withouta parable.
They strippedHim and puta scarletrobeon Him.
"Do not storeup for yourselvestreasureson earth,wheremothand rustdestroy,and wherethievesbreakin and steal.
And He [began] speakinga parableto the invited guestswhen He noticedhowthey had been pickingout the places of honor[at the table], sayingto them,
His disciplessaid,"Lo,nowYou are speakingplainlyand are not usinga figure of speech.
For nowwe seein a mirrordimly,but thenfaceto face;nowI knowin part,but thenI will knowfullyjustas I alsohave been fully known.
Your richeshave rottedand your garmentshave becomemoth-eaten.
When they sawhim, they broughtthirtycompanionsto be with him.
"But ifyou are unableto tellme, then you shall giveme thirtylinenwrapsand thirtychangesof clothes."And they saidto him, "Propoundyour riddle,that we may hearit."
