Allthe citiesof the Levitesin the midstof the possessionof the sonsof Israelwere forty-eightcitieswith their pasturelands.
"Cursedbe their anger,for it is fierce;And their wrath,for it is cruel.I will dispersethem in Jacob,And scatterthem in Israel.
So the sonsof Israelgaveto the Levitesthe citieswith their pasturelands.
"They shall teachYour ordinancesto Jacob,And Your lawto Israel.They shall putincensebeforeYou, And wholeburntofferingson Your altar.
So the sonsof Israelgavethe Levitesfrom their inheritancethesecitieswith their pasturelands,accordingto the commandof the LORD.
All[these were] the citiesof the sonsof Merariaccording to their families,the restof the familiesof the Levites;and their lotwas twelvecities.
Thesecitieseachhadits surroundingpasturelands;thus[it was] with allthesecities.
