Now when Davidhad cometo Mahanaim,Shobithe sonof Nahashfrom Rabbahof the sonsof Ammon,Machirthe sonof Ammielfrom Lo-debar,and Barzillaithe Gileaditefrom Rogelim,
But Abnerthe sonof Ner,commanderof Saul'sarmy,had takenIsh-bosheththe sonof Sauland broughthim overto Mahanaim.
Now the kingof Israelsaidto his servants,"Do you knowthat Ramoth-gileadbelongs to us, and we are stilldoingnothingto takeit out of the handof the kingof Aram?"
Ahinadabthe sonof Iddo,[in] Mahanaim;
Their territorywas Jazer,and allthe citiesof Gilead,and halfthe landof the sonsof Ammon,as faras Aroerwhichis beforeRabbah;
and in the valley,Beth-haramand Beth-nimrahand Succothand Zaphon,the restof the kingdomof Sihonkingof Heshbon,with the Jordanas a border,as faras the [lower] endof the Seaof Chinnerethbeyondthe Jordanto the east.
Beyondthe Jordaneastof Jericho,they designatedBezerin the wildernesson the plainfrom the tribeof Reuben,and Ramothin Gileadfrom the tribeof Gad,and Golanin Bashanfrom the tribeof Manasseh.
From the tribeof Gad,[they gave] Ramothin Gilead,the cityof refugefor the manslayer,with its pasturelandsand Mahanaimwith its pasturelands,
Then the sonsof Ammonwere summonedand they campedin Gilead.And the sonsof Israelgatheredtogether and campedin Mizpah.
Then Jephthahwentwith the eldersof Gilead,and the peoplemadehim headand chiefoverthem; and Jephthahspokeallhis wordsbeforethe LORDat Mizpah.
Now the Spiritof the LORDcameupon Jephthah,so that he passedthroughGileadand Manasseh;then he passedthroughMizpahof Gilead,and from Mizpahof Gileadhe wenton to the sonsof Ammon.
