Justas the LORDhad commandedMoseshis servant,soMosescommandedJoshua,and soJoshuadid;he leftnothingundoneof allthat the LORDhad commandedMoses.
The handof Godwas alsoon Judahto givethem oneheartto dowhatthe kingand the princescommandedby the wordof the LORD.
Then the LORDspoketo Mosesin the plainsof Moabby the Jordan[opposite] Jericho,saying,
then you shall driveout allthe inhabitantsof the landfrom beforeyou, and destroyalltheir figuredstones,and destroyalltheir moltenimagesand demolishalltheir highplaces;
"Woeto you, scribesand Pharisees,hypocrites!For you tithemintand dilland cummin,and have neglectedthe weightier provisionsof the law:justiceand mercyand faithfulness;but theseare the things you shouldhave donewithoutneglectingthe others.
"But woeto you Pharisees!For you pay titheof mintand rueand every[kind of] garden herb,and [yet] disregardjusticeand the loveof God;but these are the thingsyou shouldhave donewithoutneglectingthe others.
howI did not shrinkfrom declaringto you anythingthat was profitable,and teachingyou publiclyand from house to house,
"For I did not shrinkfrom declaringto you the wholepurposeof God.
"WhateverI commandyou, you shall be carefulto do;you shall not addto nortakeawayfrom it.
"It is the LORDyour Godwho will crossaheadof you; He will destroythesenationsbeforeyou, and you shall dispossessthem. Joshuais the one who will crossaheadof you, justas the LORDhas spoken.
"The LORDwill deliverthem up beforeyou, and you shall doto them according to allthe commandmentswhichI have commandedyou.
Then Mosescalledto Joshuaand saidto him in the sightof allIsrael,"Be strongand courageous,for you shall gowith thispeopleinto the landwhichthe LORDhas swornto their fathersto givethem, and you shall giveit to them as an inheritance.
"You shall not addto the wordwhichI am commandingyou, nortakeawayfrom it, that you may keepthe commandmentsof the LORDyour GodwhichI commandyou.
"See,I have taughtyou statutesand judgmentsjustas the LORDmy Godcommandedme, that you should dothusin the landwhereyou are enteringto possessit.
and when the LORDyour Goddeliversthem beforeyou and you defeatthem, then you shall utterlydestroythem. You shall makenocovenantwith them and shownofavorto them.
"Onlybe strongand verycourageous;be carefulto doaccording to allthe lawwhichMosesMy servantcommandedyou; do not turnfrom it to the rightor to the left,sothat you may havesuccesswhereveryou go.
Joshuacapturedallthe citiesof thesekings,and alltheir kings,and he struckthem with the edgeof the sword,[and] utterlydestroyedthem; justas Mosesthe servantof the LORDhad commanded.
Allthe spoilof thesecitiesand the cattle,the sonsof Israeltookas their plunder;but they struckeverymanwith the edgeof the sword,untilthey had destroyedthem. They leftnoonewhobreathed.
Thus Joshuatookallthat land:the hillcountryand allthe Negev,allthat landof Goshen,the lowland,the Arabah,the hillcountryof Israeland its lowland
"I regretthat I have madeSaulking,for he has turnedbackfrom followingMe and has not carriedout My commands."And Samuelwas distressedand criedout to the LORDallnight.
