Therefore Adoni-zedekkingof Jerusalemsent[word] to Hohamkingof Hebronand to Piramkingof Jarmuthand to Japhiakingof Lachishand to Debirkingof Eglon,saying,
They capturedit on that dayand struckit with the edgeof the sword;and he utterlydestroyedthat dayeverypersonwho[was] in it, according to allthat he had doneto Lachish.
They capturedit and struckit and its kingand allits citiesand allthe personswho[were] in it with the edgeof the sword.He leftnosurvivor,according to allthat he had doneto Eglon.And he utterlydestroyedit and everypersonwho[was] in it.
So the fivekingsof the Amorites,the kingof Jerusalem,the kingof Hebron,the kingof Jarmuth,the kingof Lachish,[and] the kingof Eglon,gatheredtogether and wentup, they with alltheir armies,and campedby Gibeonand foughtagainstit.
Now he gaveto Calebthe sonof Jephunneha portionamongthe sonsof Judah,accordingto the commandof the LORDto Joshua,[namely], Kiriath-arba,[Arba being] the fatherof Anak(that is, Hebron).
and Humtahand Kiriath-arba(that is, Hebron),and Zior;ninecitieswith their villages.
So to the sonsof Aaronthe priestthey gaveHebron,the cityof refugefor the manslayer,with its pasturelands,and Libnahwith its pasturelands,
So Judahwentagainstthe Canaaniteswho livedin Hebron(now the nameof Hebronformerly[was] Kiriath-arba);and they struckSheshaiand Ahimanand Talmai.
Then they gaveHebronto Caleb,as Moseshad promised;and he droveout from therethe threesonsof Anak.
