So JoshuaoverwhelmedAmalekand his peoplewith the edgeof the sword.
Then Rabshakehreturnedand foundthe king of AssyriafightingagainstLibnah,for he had heardthat the king had leftLachish.

Now JoshuacapturedMakkedahon that day,and struckit and its kingwith the edgeof the sword;he utterlydestroyedit and everypersonwhowas in it. He leftnosurvivor.Thus he didto the kingof Makkedahjustas he had doneto the kingof Jericho.
And Joshuaand allIsraelwith him passedon from Libnahto Lachish,and they campedby it and foughtagainst it.
ThenHoramkingof Gezercameup to helpLachish,and Joshuadefeatedhim and his peopleuntilhe had lefthim nosurvivor.
Joshuacapturedallthe citiesof thesekings,and alltheir kings,and he struckthem with the edgeof the sword,[and] utterlydestroyedthem; justas Mosesthe servantof the LORDhad commanded.
