Lotwentout and spoketo his sons-in-law,who were to marryhis daughters,and said,"Up, getout of thisplace,for the LORDwill destroythe city."But he appearedto his sons-in-lawto be jesting.
O LORD,Your handis liftedup [yet] they do not seeit. They see[Your] zealfor the peopleand are putto shame;Indeed,firewill devourYour enemies.
Whohas believedour message?And to whomhas the armof the LORDbeen revealed?
"But he saidto him, 'Ifthey do not listento Mosesand the Prophets,they will not be persuadedevenifsomeonerisesfrom the dead.'"
Thisis the testimonyof John,whenthe Jewssentto him priestsand Levitesfrom Jerusalemto askhim, "Whoare you?"
"Howcanyou believe,when you receivegloryfrom one anotherand you do not seekthe glorythat is from the [one and] onlyGod?
and questionedthem, saying,"Is thisyour son,whoyou saywas bornblind?Thenhowdoes he nowsee?"
His parentssaidthisbecausethey were afraidof the Jews;for the Jewshad alreadyagreedthat ifanyoneconfessedHim to be Christ,he was to be put out of the synagogue.
Thereforelet us be diligentto enterthat rest,sothat noonewill fall,through[following] the sameexampleof disobedience.
