Jesusansweredand saidto them, "Even ifI testifyaboutMyself,My testimonyis true,for I knowwhereI camefrom and whereI am going;but you do not knowwhereI comefrom orwhereI am going.
"For my mouthwill uttertruth;And wickednessis an abominationto my lips.
(Now the manMoseswas veryhumble,morethananymanwhowas on the faceof the earth.)
evenas the FatherknowsMe and I knowthe Father;and I lay downMy lifefor the sheep.
do you sayof Him, whomthe Fathersanctifiedand sentinto the world,'You are blaspheming,'becauseI said,I amthe Sonof God'?
[Jesus], knowingthat the Fatherhad givenall thingsinto His hands,and that He had come forthfrom Godand was going backto God,
"Do you not believethat I am in the Father,and the Fatheris in Me? The wordsthat I sayto you I do not speakon My own initiative,but the Fatherabidingin Me doesHis works.
"I came forthfrom the Fatherand have comeinto the world;I am leavingthe worldagainand goingto the Father."
for the wordswhichYou gaveMe I have givento them; and they received[them] and trulyunderstoodthat I came forthfrom You, and they believedthat You sentMe.
ThereforePilatesaidto Him, "SoYou are a king?"Jesusanswered,"You say[correctly] that I ama king.For thisI have been born,and for thisI have comeinto the world,to testifyto the truth.Everyonewho is of the truthhearsMy voice."
"IfI [alone] testifyaboutMyself,My testimonyis not true.
Jesussaidto them, "IfGodwere your Father,you would loveMe, for I proceeded forthand have comefrom God,for I have not evencomeon My own initiative,but He sentMe.
The Godand Fatherof the LordJesus,He who is blessedforever,knowsthat I am not lying.
I have becomefoolish;you yourselvescompelledme. ActuallyI shouldhave been commendedby you, for in norespectwas I inferiorto the most eminentapostles,eventhoughI ama nobody.
All this timeyou have been thinkingthat we are defendingourselves to you. [Actually], it is in the sightof Godthat we have been speakingin Christ;and allfor your upbuilding,beloved.
and from JesusChrist,the faithfulwitness,the firstbornof the dead,and the rulerof the kingsof the earth.To Him who lovesus and releasedus from our sinsby His blood--
