Can mankindbe justbeforeGod?Can a manbe purebeforehis Maker?
"For thoughI were right,I could not answer;I would have to implorethe mercyof my judge.
"In truthI knowthat this is so;But howcan a manbe in the rightbeforeGod?
I am afraidof allmy pains,I knowthat You will not acquitme.
"I am accounted wicked,Whythenshould I toilin vain?
IfYou, LORD,should markiniquities,O Lord,whocould stand?
And do not enterinto judgmentwith Your servant,For in Your sightnomanlivingis righteous.
When there are manywords,transgressionis unavoidable,But he who restrainshis lipsis wise.
He whohasa crookedmindfindsnogood,And he who is pervertedin his languagefallsinto evil.
Then I said,"Woeis me, for I am ruined!BecauseI am a manof uncleanlips,And I liveamonga peopleof uncleanlips;For my eyeshave seenthe King,the LORDof hosts."
But wishingto justifyhimself,he saidto Jesus,"And whois my neighbor?"
And He saidto them, "You are thosewho justifyyourselvesin the sightof men,but Godknowsyour hearts;for that which is highly esteemedamongmenis detestablein the sightof God.
and constant frictionbetween menof depravedmindand deprivedof the truth,who supposethat godlinessis a means of gain.
For we allstumblein many[ways]. Ifanyonedoes not stumblein what he says,he is a perfectman,ableto bridlethe wholebodyas well.
