Now Nebuchadnezzarkingof BabylongaveordersaboutJeremiahthroughNebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguard,saying,
"But He savesfrom the swordof their mouth,And the poorfrom the handof the mighty.
"So the helplesshashope,And unrighteousnessmust shutits mouth.
"From sixtroublesHe will deliveryou, Even in sevenevilwill not touchyou.
"Do not be afraidof them, For I am with you to deliveryou," declaresthe LORD.
The LORDsaid,"SurelyI will setyou freefor [purposes of] good;SurelyI will cause the enemyto makesupplicationto you In a timeof disasterand a timeof distress.
"Then I will makeyou to thispeopleA fortifiedwallof bronze;And though they fightagainstyou, They will not prevailover you; For I am with you to saveyou And deliveryou," declaresthe LORD.
"So I will deliveryou from the handof the wicked,And I will redeemyou from the graspof the violent."
But neitherhe norhis servantsnorthe peopleof the landlistenedto the wordsof the LORDwhichHe spokethroughJeremiahthe prophet.
The wordwhichcameto Jeremiahfrom the LORDafterNebuzaradancaptainof the bodyguardhad releasedhim from Ramah,when he had takenhim boundin chainsamongallthe exilesof Jerusalemand Judahwho were being exiledto Babylon.
"But now,behold,I am freeingyou todayfrom the chainswhichare on your hands.Ifyou would preferto comewith me to Babylon,come[along], and I will lookafteryou; but ifyou would prefernot to comewith me to Babylon,nevermind.Look,the wholelandis beforeyou; gowhereverit seems goodand rightfor you to go."
Now on the tenth[day] of the fifthmonth,whichwas the nineteenthyearof KingNebuchadnezzar,kingof Babylon,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguard,who was in the serviceof the kingof Babylon,cameto Jerusalem.
Thenhe gave ordersto the centurionfor him to be kept in custodyand [yet] have[some] freedom,and not to preventanyof his friendsfrom ministeringto him.
