Then Rabshakehstoodand criedwith a loudvoicein Judeanand said,"Hearthe wordsof the greatking,the kingof Assyria.
They calledthis out with a loudvoicein the languageof Judahto the peopleof Jerusalemwhowere on the wall,to frightenand terrifythem, sothat they might takethe city.
Then Eliakimand Shebnaand Joahsaidto Rabshakeh,"Speaknowto your servantsin Aramaic,for we understand[it]; and do not speakwith us in Judeanin the hearingof the peoplewhoare on the wall."
But Rabshakehsaid,"Has my mastersentme only to your masterand to you to speakthesewords,[and] not to the menwho siton the wall,[doomed] to eattheir own dungand drinktheir own urinewith you?"
Then Rabshakehsaidto them, "Saynowto Hezekiah,'Thussaysthe greatking,the kingof Assyria,"Whatis thisconfidencethat you have?
Perhapsthe LORDyour Godwill hearthe wordsof Rabshakeh,whomhis masterthe kingof Assyriahas sentto reproachthe livingGod,and will rebukethe wordswhichthe LORDyour Godhas heard.Therefore, offera prayerfor the remnantthat is left.'"
"Now therefore,behold,the Lordis about to bringon them the strongand abundantwatersof the Euphrates,[Even] the kingof Assyriaand allhis glory;And it will riseup overallits channelsand gooverallits banks.
"NowI, Nebuchadnezzar,praise,exaltand honorthe Kingof heaven,for allHis worksare true and His waysjust,and He is ableto humblethose whowalkin pride."
