The breathof our nostrils,the LORD'Sanointed,Was capturedin their pits,Of whomwe had said,"Under his shadowWe shall liveamong the nations."
Surelynowthey will say,"We havenoking,For we do not reverethe LORD.As for the king,whatcan he dofor us?"
Yet I [have been] the LORDyour GodSincethe landof Egypt;And you were not to knowany godexceptMe, For thereis nosaviorbesidesMe.
For the sonsof Israelwill remainfor manydayswithoutkingor prince,withoutsacrificeor [sacred] pillarand withoutephodor householdidols.
Allof them are hotlike an oven,And they consumetheir rulers;Alltheir kingshave fallen.Noneof them callson Me.
They have setup kings,but not by Me; They have appointedprinces,but I did not know[it]. With their silverand goldthey have madeidolsfor themselves, That they might be cutoff.
And the LORDwill be kingoverallthe earth;in that daythe LORDwill be [the only] one,and His name[the only] one.

The LORDsaidto Samuel,"Listento the voiceof the peoplein regard to allthat they sayto you, for they have not rejectedyou, but they have rejectedMe from beingkingoverthem.
