Do considerfrom thisdayonward,from the twenty-fourthdayof the ninth[month]; from the daywhenthe templeof the LORDwas founded,consider:
Thenworkon the houseof Godin Jerusalemceased,and it was stoppeduntilthe secondyearof the reignof Dariuskingof Persia.
In the fifthyearyou are to eatof its fruit,that its yieldmay increasefor you; I am the LORDyour God.
On the twenty-fourthof the ninth[month], in the secondyearof Darius,the wordof the LORDcameto Haggaithe prophet,saying,
But now,do considerfrom thisdayonward:beforeone stonewas placedon anotherin the templeof the LORD,
"The handsof Zerubbabelhave laidthe foundationof thishouse,and his handswill finish[it]. Then you will knowthat the LORDof hostshas sentme to you.
For [there will be] peacefor the seed:the vinewill yieldits fruit,the landwill yieldits produceand the heavenswill givetheir dew;and I will cause the remnantof thispeopleto inheritallthese[things].
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,'Let your handsbe strong,you who are listeningin thesedaysto thesewordsfrom the mouthof the prophets,[those] who[spoke] in the daythat the foundationof the houseof the LORDof hostswas laid,to the end that the templemight be built.
"Wouldthat they were wise,that they understoodthis,That they would discerntheir future!
