O daughterof Babylon,you devastatedone, How blessedwill be the one whorepaysyou With the recompensewith whichyou have repaidus.
But You, O God,will bringthem downto the pitof destruction;Menof bloodshedand deceitwill not liveout halftheir days.But I will trustin You.
A manwho is ladenwith the guilt of humanbloodWill be a fugitiveuntildeath;let noone supporthim.
"Drawup your battlelinesagainstBabylonon everyside,Allyou who bendthe bow;Shootat her, do not be sparingwith [your] arrows,For she has sinnedagainst the LORD.
There is a soundof fugitivesand refugeesfrom the landof Babylon,To declarein Zionthe vengeanceof the LORDour God,Vengeancefor His temple.
"But I will repayBabylonand allthe inhabitantsof Chaldeafor alltheir evilthat they have donein Zionbefore your eyes,"declaresthe LORD.
"By the abundanceof your tradeYou were internallyfilledwith violence,And you sinned;Therefore I have castyou as profaneFrom the mountainof God.And I have destroyedyou, O coveringcherub,From the midstof the stonesof fire.
"I made the nationsquakeat the soundof its fallwhen I made it godownto Sheolwith those who godownto the pit;and allthe well-wateredtreesof Eden,the choicestand bestof Lebanon,were comfortedin the earthbeneath.
Egyptwill becomea waste,And Edomwill becomea desolatewilderness,Becauseof the violencedone to the sonsof Judah,In whoselandthey have shedinnocentblood.
Will they thereforeemptytheir netAnd continuallyslaynationswithoutsparing?
"Becauseyou have lootedmanynations,Allthe remainderof the peopleswill lootyou-- Becauseof humanbloodshedand violencedone to the land,To the townand allits inhabitants.
