He askedPharaoh'sofficialswhowere with him in confinementin his master'shouse,"Whyare your facesso sadtoday?"
When Josephcameto them in the morningand observedthem, behold,they were dejected.
So he putthem alltogetherin prisonfor threedays.
He saidto him, "O sonof the king,whyare you sodepressedmorningafter morning?Will you not tellme?" Then Amnonsaidto him, "I am in lovewith Tamar,the sisterof my brotherAbsalom."
So the kingsaidto me, "Whyis your facesadthough you are not sick?Thisis nothingbut sadnessof heart."Then I was verymuchafraid.
And He saidto them, "Whatare thesewordsthat you are exchangingwith one anotheras you are walking?"And they stood still,looking sad.
He said,"You have takenaway my godswhichI made,and the priest,and have goneaway, and whatdo I have besides?So howcan you sayto me, 'Whatis [the matter] with you?'"
Then Elkanahher husbandsaidto her, "Hannah,whydo you weepand whydo you not eatand whyis your heartsad?Am I not betterto you thantensons?"
