Israelsaidto Joseph,"Are not your brotherspasturing[the flock] in Shechem?Come,and I will sendyou to them." And he saidto him, "I will go."
Now it cameabout afterthesethings,that GodtestedAbraham,and saidto him, "Abraham!"And he said,"HereI am."
But the angelof the LORDcalledto him from heavenand said,"Abraham,Abraham!"And he said,"HereI am."
Now it cameabout, whenIsaacwas oldand his eyeswere toodimto see,that he calledhis oldersonEsauand saidto him, "My son."And he saidto him, "HereI am."
Then he cameto his fatherand said,"My father."And he said,"HereI am. Whoare you, my son?"
Now Jacobcamesafelyto the cityof Shechem,whichis in the landof Canaan,when he camefrom Paddan-aram,and campedbeforethe city.
Then his brotherswentto pasturetheir father'sflockin Shechem.
"Behold,I sendyou out as sheepin the midstof wolves;sobe shrewdas serpentsand innocentas doves.
"The ownerof the vineyardsaid,'Whatshall I do?I will sendmy belovedson;perhapsthey will respecthim.'
Then ElicalledSamueland said,"Samuel,my son."And he said,"HereI am."
So the LORDcalledSamuelagainfor the thirdtime.And he aroseand wentto Eliand said,"HereI am, for you calledme." Then Elidiscernedthat the LORDwas callingthe boy.
