Afterwardhis brothercameforthwith his handholdingon to Esau'sheel,so his namewas calledJacob;and Isaacwas sixtyyearsoldwhen she gavebirthto them.
Now Abrahamwas one hundredyearsoldwhen his sonIsaacwas bornto him.
and Isaacwas fortyyearsoldwhen he tookRebekah,the daughterof Bethuelthe Arameanof Paddan-aram,the sisterof Labanthe Aramean,to be his wife.
Then he said,"Is he not rightly namedJacob,for he has supplantedme thesetwotimes?He tookaway my birthright,and behold,nowhe has takenaway my blessing."And he said,"Have you not reserveda blessingfor me?"
Now the daysof Isaacwere one hundredand eightyyears.
Abrahambecamethe fatherof Isaac.The sonsof Isaac[were] Esauand Israel.
In the wombhe tookhis brotherby the heel,And in his maturityhe contendedwith God.
Yes, he wrestledwith the angeland prevailed;He weptand soughtHis favor.He foundHim at BethelAnd thereHe spokewith us,
"I have lovedyou," saysthe LORD.But you say,"Howhave You lovedus?" "[Was] not EsauJacob'sbrother?"declaresthe LORD."Yet I have lovedJacob;
From KadeshMosesthen sentmessengersto the kingof Edom:"Thusyour brotherIsraelhas said,You knowallthe hardshipthat has befallenus;
"And He gavehim the covenantof circumcision;and so[Abraham] became the fatherof Isaac,and circumcisedhim on the eighthday;and Isaac[became the father of] Jacob,and Jacob[of] the twelvepatriarchs.
"The sonsof the thirdgenerationwhoare bornto them may enterthe assemblyof the LORD.
To IsaacI gaveJacoband Esau,and to EsauI gaveMountSeirto possessit; but Jacoband his sonswentdownto Egypt.
