Abrahamcalledthe nameof his sonwho was bornto him, whomSarahboreto him, Isaac.
But Godsaid,"No,but Sarahyour wifewill bearyou a son,and you shall callhis nameIsaac;and I will establishMy covenantwith him for an everlastingcovenantfor his descendantsafterhim.
"But My covenantI will establishwith Isaac,whomSarahwill bearto you at thisseasonnextyear."
But Godsaidto Abraham,"Do not be distressedbecauseof the ladand your maid;whateverSarahtellsyou, listento her, for throughIsaacyour descendantsshall be named.
Sarahsaid,"Godhas madelaughterfor me; everyonewho hearswill laughwith me."
He said,"Takenowyour son,your onlyson, whomyou love,Isaac,and goto the landof Moriah,and offerhim thereas a burntofferingon oneof the mountainsof whichI will tellyou."
Now theseare [the records of] the generationsof Isaac,Abraham'sson:Abrahambecamethe fatherof Isaac;
Abrahamwas the fatherof Isaac,Isaacthe fatherof Jacob,and Jacobthe fatherof Judahand his brothers.
"And He gavehim the covenantof circumcision;and so[Abraham] became the fatherof Isaac,and circumcisedhim on the eighthday;and Isaac[became the father of] Jacob,and Jacob[of] the twelvepatriarchs.
norare they allchildrenbecausethey are Abraham'sdescendants,but: "THROUGHISAACYOUR DESCENDANTSWILL BE NAMED."
[it was he] to whomit was said,"IN ISAACYOUR DESCENDANTSSHALL BE CALLED."
Then I tookyour fatherAbrahamfrom beyondthe River,and ledhim through allthe landof Canaan,and multipliedhis descendantsand gavehim Isaac.
