And He tookhim outsideand said,"Nowlooktoward the heavens,and countthe stars,ifyou are ableto countthem." And He saidto him, "Soshall your descendantsbe."
And I will makeyou a greatnation,And I will blessyou, And makeyour namegreat;And so you shall be a blessing;
"I will makeyour descendantsas the dustof the earth,sothat ifanyonecannumberthe dustof the earth,then your descendantscan alsobe numbered.
Moreover, the angelof the LORDsaidto her, "I will greatlymultiplyyour descendantsso that they will be toomanyto count."
"I will establishMy covenantbetweenMe and you, And I will multiplyyou exceedingly."
indeedI will greatlyblessyou, and I will greatlymultiplyyour seedas the starsof the heavensand as the sandwhichis on the seashore;and your seedshall possessthe gateof their enemies.
"I will multiplyyour descendantsas the starsof heaven,and will giveyour descendantsalltheselands;and by your descendantsallthe nationsof the earthshall be blessed;
"Your descendantswill also be like the dustof the earth,and you will spreadout to the westand to the eastand to the northand to the south;and in you and in your descendantsshall allthe familiesof the earthbe blessed.
So he spentthe nightthere.Then he selectedfrom what he hadwith him a presentfor his brotherEsau:
"Your servantis in the midstof Your peoplewhichYou have chosen,a greatpeoplewhoare toomanyto be numberedor counted.
But Daviddid not countthose twentyyearsof ageand under,becausethe LORDhad saidHe would multiplyIsraelas the starsof heaven.
"You madetheir sonsnumerousas the starsof heaven,And You broughtthem into the landWhichYou had toldtheir fathersto enterand possess.
"Lookat the heavensand see;And beholdthe clouds--they are higherthanyou.
He countsthe numberof the stars;He givesnamesto allof them.
"RememberAbraham,Isaac,and Israel,Your servantsto whomYou sworeby Yourself, and saidto them, 'I will multiplyyour descendantsas the starsof the heavens,and allthislandof whichI have spokenI will giveto your descendants,and they shall inherit[it] forever.'"
"Lookto Abrahamyour fatherAnd to Sarahwho gavebirthto you in pain;When[he] [was but] oneI calledhim, Then I blessedhim and multipliedhim."
As the hostof heavencannotbe countedand the sandof the seacannotbe measured,soI will multiplythe descendantsof DavidMy servantand the Leviteswho ministerto Me.'"
In hopeagainsthopehe believed,sothat he might becomea fatherof manynationsaccordingto that which had been spoken,"SOSHALL YOUR DESCENDANTSBE."
The LORDyour Godhas multipliedyou, and behold,you are this daylike the starsof heavenin number.
"Your fatherswentdownto Egyptseventypersons[in all], and nowthe LORDyour Godhas madeyou as numerousas the starsof heaven.
Thereforethere was bornevenof one man,and him as good as deadat that, [as many descendants] AS THE STARSOF HEAVENIN NUMBER,AND INNUMERABLEAS THE SANDWHICH IS BY THE SEASHORE.
Then I tookyour fatherAbrahamfrom beyondthe River,and ledhim through allthe landof Canaan,and multipliedhis descendantsand gavehim Isaac.
