Now theseare the headsof their fathers'[households] and the genealogicalenrollmentof those who wentup with me from Babylonin the reignof KingArtaxerxes:
Thesealsocastlotsjustas their relativesthe sonsof Aaronin the presenceof Davidthe king,Zadok,Ahimelech,and the headsof the fathers'[households] of the priestsand of the Levites--the headof fathers'[households] as wellas those of his youngerbrother.
and his relatives,capablemen,[were] 2,700in number, headsof fathers'[households]. And KingDavidmadethem overseersof the Reubenites,the Gaditesand the half-tribeof the Manassitesconcerning allthe affairsof Godand of the king.
and alltheir villagesthat [were] aroundthe samecitiesas faras Baal.These[were] their settlements,and they have their genealogy.
So allIsraelwas enrolledby genealogies;and behold,they are writtenin the Bookof the Kingsof Israel.And Judahwas carriedawayinto exileto Babylonfor their unfaithfulness.
Thesewere headsof fathers'[households] of the Levitesaccording to their generations,chiefmen,wholivedin Jerusalem.
The totalnumberof the headsof the households,of valiantwarriors,was 2,600
Then the headsof fathers'[households] of Judahand Benjaminand the priestsand the Levitesarose,even everyonewhose spiritGodhad stirredto goup and rebuildthe houseof the LORDwhichis in Jerusalem.
Thesecamewith Zerubbabel,Jeshua,Nehemiah,Seraiah,Reelaiah,Mordecai,Bilshan,Mispar,Bigvai,Rehum[and] Baanah.The numberof the menof the peopleof Israel:
the sonsof Parosh,2,172;
Thesesearched[among] their ancestralregistration,but they could not be located;therefore they were considered unclean[and excluded] from the priesthood.
I have issueda decreethat anyof the peopleof Israeland their priestsand the Levitesin my kingdomwhoare willingto goto Jerusalem,may gowith you.
and has extendedlovingkindnessto me beforethe kingand his counselorsand before allthe king'smightyprinces.Thus I was strengthenedaccording to the handof the LORDmy Godupon me, and I gatheredleadingmenfrom Israelto goup with me.
ThisEzrawentup from Babylon,and he was a scribeskilledin the lawof Moses,whichthe LORDGodof Israelhad given;and the kinggrantedhim allhe requestedbecause the handof the LORDhis God[was] upon him.
Someof the sonsof Israeland someof the priests,the Levites,the singers,the gatekeepersand the templeservantswentup to Jerusalemin the seventhyearof KingArtaxerxes.
