The tabletswere God'swork,and the writingwas God'swritingengravedon the tablets.
"That with an ironstylusand leadThey were engravedin the rockforever!
When He had finishedspeakingwith him upon MountSinai,He gaveMosesthe twotabletsof the testimony,tabletsof stone,writtenby the fingerof God.
Then Mosesturnedand wentdownfrom the mountainwith the twotabletsof the testimonyin his hand,tabletswhich were writtenon bothsides;they were writtenon one[side] and the other.
Now when Joshuaheardthe soundof the peopleas they shouted,he saidto Moses,"There is a soundof warin the camp."
Now the LORDsaidto Moses,"Cutout for yourself twostonetabletslike the formerones,and I will writeon the tabletsthe wordsthat were on the formertabletswhichyou shattered.
So he cutout twostonetabletslike the formerones,and Mosesroseup earlyin the morningand wentup to MountSinai,as the LORDhad commandedhim, and he tooktwostonetabletsin his hand.
being manifestedthat you are a letterof Christ,caredfor by us, writtennot with inkbut with the Spiritof the livingGod,not on tabletsof stonebut on tabletsof humanhearts.
But ifthe ministryof death,in lettersengravedon stones,camewith glory,sothat the sonsof Israelcouldnot look intentlyat the faceof Mosesbecauseof the gloryof his face,fading[as] it was,
"At that timethe LORDsaidto me, 'Cutout for yourself twotabletsof stonelike the formerones,and comeup to Me on the mountain,and makean arkof woodfor yourself.
"So I turnedand camedownfrom the mountainwhile the mountainwas burningwith fire,and the twotabletsof the covenantwere in my twohands.
"FOR THISIS THE COVENANTTHAT I WILL MAKEWITH THE HOUSEOF ISRAELAFTERTHOSEDAYS,SAYSTHE LORD:I WILL PUTMY LAWSINTO THEIR MINDS,AND I WILL WRITETHEM ON THEIR HEARTS.AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD,AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
