"They have treatedfatherand motherlightlywithin you. The alienthey have oppressedin your midst;the fatherlessand the widowthey have wrongedin you.
Whena strangerresideswith you in your land,you shall not dohim wrong.
Shouldyou not alsohave hadmercyon your fellow slave,in the same waythat I had mercyon you?'
"So showyour lovefor the alien,for you were aliensin the landof Egypt.
"You shall not detestan Edomite,for he is your brother;you shall not detestan Egyptian,becauseyou were an alienin his land.
Cursedis he who distortsthe justicedue an alien,orphan,and widow.'And allthe peopleshall say,'Amen.'
