Then Eliakimthe sonof Hilkiah,and Shebnahand Joah,saidto Rabshakeh,"Speaknowto your servantsin Aramaic,for we understand[it]; and do not speakwith us in Judeanin the hearingof the peoplewhoare on the wall."
So they assembledat Jerusalemin the thirdmonthof the fifteenthyearof Asa'sreign.
Now it tookplacein the daysof Ahasuerus,the Ahasueruswho reignedfrom Indiato Ethiopiaover 127provinces,
So he sentlettersto allthe king'sprovinces,to eachprovinceaccording to its scriptand to everypeopleaccording to their language,that everymanshould be the masterin his own houseand the one who speaksin the languageof his own people.
Now KingAhasueruslaida tributeon the landand on the coastlandsof the sea.
