Now when the kingreturnedfrom the palacegardeninto the placewherethey were drinkingwine,Hamanwas fallingon the couchwhereEstherwas. Then the kingsaid,"Will he evenassaultthe queenwith me in the house?"As the wordwentout of the king'smouth,they coveredHaman'sface.
When thesedayswere completed,the kinggavea banquetlasting sevendaysfor allthe peoplewho were presentat the citadelin Susa,from the greatestto the least,in the courtof the gardenof the king'spalace.
[There were hangings of] finewhiteand violetlinenheldby cordsof finepurplelinenon silverringsand marblecolumns,[and] couchesof goldand silveron a mosaicpavementof porphyry,marble,mother-of-pearland preciousstones.
Then Mordecaireturnedto the king'sgate.But Hamanhurriedhome,mourning,with [his] headcovered.
So they hangedHamanon the gallowswhichhe had preparedfor Mordecai,and the king'sangersubsided.
"The earthis giveninto the handof the wicked;He coversthe facesof its judges.If[it is] not [He], thenwhois it?
Behold,the LORDis about to hurlyou headlong,O man.And He is about to graspyou firmly
"Kingswill be your guardians,And their princessesyour nurses.They will bowdownto you with their facesto the earthAnd lickthe dustof your feet;And [you] will knowthat I am the LORD;Those whohopefullywaitfor Me will not be putto shame.
Thussaysthe LORD,"Justas the shepherdsnatchesfrom the lion'smoutha coupleof legsora pieceof an ear,Sowill the sonsof Israeldwellingin Samariabe snatchedaway--With [the] cornerof a bedand [the] coverof a couch!
Somebeganto spitat Him, and to blindfoldHim, and to beat Him with their fists,and to sayto Him, "Prophesy!"And the officersreceivedHim with slaps[in the face].
