"For I was afraidof the angerand hotdispleasurewith whichthe LORDwas wrathfulagainstyou in order to destroyyou, but the LORDlistenedto me that timealso.
They madea calfin HorebAnd worshipeda moltenimage.
Therefore He saidthat He would destroythem, Had not MosesHis chosenone stoodin the breachbeforeHim, To turnawayHis wrathfrom destroying[them].
When Godheard,He was filledwith wrathAnd greatlyabhorredIsrael;
Mosesand Aaronwere among His priests,And Samuelwas among those who calledon His name;They calledupon the LORDand He answeredthem.
So the LORDchangedHis mindaboutthe harmwhichHe saidHe would doto His people.
The LORDsaidto Moses,"I will alsodothisthingof whichyou have spoken;for you have foundfavorin My sightand I have knownyou by name."
Then God said,"Behold,I am going to makea covenant.Beforeallyour peopleI will performmiracleswhichhave not been producedin allthe earthnoramong anyof the nations;and allthe peopleamongwhomyou live will seethe workingof the LORD,for it is a fearfulthingthat I am going to performwith you.
The peopletherefore criedout to Moses,and Mosesprayedto the LORDand the firediedout.
"I, moreover, stayedon the mountainfortydaysand fortynightslike the firsttime,and the LORDlistenedto me that timealso;the LORDwas not willingto destroyyou.
"Or the angerof the LORDwill be kindledagainst you, and He will shutup the heavensso that there will be norainand the groundwill not yieldits fruit;and you will perishquicklyfrom the goodlandwhichthe LORDis givingyou.
"The LORDwas angryenoughwith Aaronto destroyhim; so I alsoprayedfor Aaronat the sametime.
"Even at Horebyou provokedthe LORDto wrath,and the LORDwas so angrywith you that He would have destroyedyou.
And soterriblewas the sight,[that] Mosessaid,"I AMFULL OF FEARand trembling."
