"See,I have setbeforeyou todaylifeand prosperity,and deathand adversity;
but from the treeof the knowledgeof goodand evilyou shall not eat,for in the daythat you eatfrom it you will surelydie."
In the wayof righteousnessis life,And in [its] pathwaythere is nodeath.
"Ifyou consentand obey,You will eatthe bestof the land;
"You shall also sayto thispeople,'Thussaysthe LORD,"Behold,I setbeforeyou the wayof lifeand the wayof death.
So I have toldyou today,but you have not obeyedthe LORDyour God,even in whateverHe has sentme to [tell] you.
He has toldyou, O man,whatis good;And whatdoes the LORDrequireof you But to dojustice,to lovekindness,And to walkhumblywith your God?
"He who has believedand has been baptizedshall be saved;but he who has disbelievedshall be condemned.
"For Godsolovedthe world,that He gaveHis only begottenSon,that whoeverbelievesin Him shall not perish,but haveeternallife.
For in ChristJesusneithercircumcisionnoruncircumcisionmeansanything,but faithworkingthroughlove.
"See,I am settingbeforeyou todaya blessingand a curse:
"So it shall be whenallof thesethingshave comeupon you, the blessingand the cursewhichI have setbeforeyou, and you call[them] to mindin allnationswherethe LORDyour Godhas banishedyou,
"But the wordis verynearyou, in your mouthand in your heart,that you may observeit.
"I callheavenand earthto witnessagainst you today,that I have setbeforeyou lifeand death,the blessingand the curse.So chooselifein orderthat you may live,you and your descendants,
"For it is not an idlewordfor you; indeedit is your life.And by thiswordyou will prolongyour daysin the land,whichyou are about to crossthe Jordanto possess."
Thisis His commandment,that we believein the nameof His SonJesusChrist,and loveone another,justas He commandedus.
