"Then I commandedyou at that time,saying,The LORDyour Godhas givenyou thislandto possessit; allyou valiantmenshall crossoverarmedbeforeyour brothers,the sonsof Israel.
And He saidto him, "I am the LORDwhobroughtyou out of Urof the Chaldeans,to giveyou thislandto possessit."
And gavetheir landas a heritage,For His lovingkindnessis everlasting,
and you shall takepossessionof the landand livein it, for I have giventhe landto you to possessit.
"Theseare the statutesand the judgmentswhichyou shall carefullyobservein the landwhichthe LORD,the Godof your fathers,has givenyou to possessas longas you liveon the earth.
"However,there will be nopooramong you, sincethe LORDwill surelyblessyou in the landwhichthe LORDyour Godis givingyou as an inheritanceto possess,
"You shall not moveyour neighbor'sboundarymark, whichthe ancestorshave set,in your inheritancewhichyou will inheritin the landthat the LORDyour Godgivesyou to possess.
you shall setasidethreecitiesfor yourself in the midstof your land,whichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou to possess.
"Therefore,I commandyou, saying,'You shall setasidethreecitiesfor yourself.'
"Ifa slainperson is foundlyingin the open countryin the landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou to possess,[and] it is not knownwhohas struckhim,
"Therefore it shall comeabout when the LORDyour Godhas givenyou restfrom allyour surroundingenemies,in the landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou as an inheritanceto possess,you shall blotout the memoryof Amalekfrom underheaven;you must not forget.
But as for you, standhereby Me, that I may speakto you allthe commandmentsand the statutesand the judgmentswhichyou shall teachthem, that they may observe[them] in the landwhichI givethem to possess.'
"Now thisis the commandment,the statutesand the judgmentswhichthe LORDyour Godhas commanded[me] to teachyou, that you might do[them] in the landwhereyou are goingoverto possessit,
"Know,then, [it is] not because of your righteousness[that] the LORDyour Godis givingyou thisgoodlandto possess,for you are a stubbornpeople.
"Passthrough the midstof the campand commandthe people,saying,'Prepareprovisionsfor yourselves, for withinthreedaysyou are to crossthisJordan,to goin to possessthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godis givingyou, to possessit.'"
