And the Egyptianstreatedus harshlyand afflictedus, and imposedhardlaboron us.
So they appointedtaskmastersoverthem to afflictthem with hardlabor.And they builtfor Pharaohstoragecities,Pithomand Raamses.
and they madetheir livesbitterwith hardlaborin mortarand bricksand at all[kinds] of laborin the field,alltheir laborswhichthey rigorouslyimposedon them.
and he said,"When you are helping the Hebrewwomento givebirthand see[them] upon the birthstool,ifit is a son,then you shall puthim to death;but ifit is a daughter,then she shall live."
Then Pharaohcommandedallhis people,saying,"Everysonwho is bornyou are to castinto the Nile,and everydaughteryou are to keepalive."
Now a newkingaroseoverEgypt,whodid not knowJoseph.
The foremenof the sonsof Israelsawthat they were in troublebecause they were told,"You must not reduce[your] dailyamountof bricks."
"Ever sinceI cameto Pharaohto speakin Your name,he has doneharmto thispeople,and You have not deliveredYour peopleat all."
"Let the laborbe heavieron the men,and let them workat it so that they will paynoattentionto false words."
that our fatherswentdownto Egypt,and we stayedin Egypta longtime,and the Egyptianstreatedus and our fathersbadly.
Then we criedto the LORD,the Godof our fathers,and the LORDheardour voiceand sawour afflictionand our toiland our oppression;
"But the LORDhas takenyou and broughtyou out of the ironfurnace,from Egypt,to be a peoplefor His own possession,as today.
