When I, Daniel,had seenthe vision,I soughtto understandit; and behold,standingbeforeme was one wholookedlike a man.
For a childwill be bornto us, a sonwill be givento us; And the governmentwill reston His shoulders;And His namewill be calledWonderfulCounselor,MightyGod,EternalFather,Princeof Peace.
And behold,one whoresembleda humanbeingwas touchingmy lips;then I openedmy mouthand spokeand saidto him who was standingbeforeme, "O my lord,as a result of the visionanguishhas comeupon me, and I have retainednostrength.
Then [this] one with humanappearancetouchedme againand strengthenedme.
I liftedmy eyesand looked,and behold,there was a certainmandressedin linen,whose waistwas girdedwith [a belt of] puregoldof Uphaz.
As for me, I heardbut could not understand;so I said,"My lord,what[will be] the outcomeof these[events]?"
"I keptlookingin the nightvisions,And behold,with the cloudsof heavenOne like a Sonof Manwas coming,And He cameup to the Ancientof DaysAnd was presentedbeforeHim.
"At thispointthe revelationended.As for me, Daniel,my thoughtswere greatlyalarmingme and my facegrewpale,but I keptthe matterto myself."
In the thirdyearof the reignof Belshazzarthe kinga visionappearedto me, Daniel,subsequentto the one which appearedto me previously.
He said,"Behold,I am going to let you knowwhatwill occurat the finalperiodof the indignation,for [it] pertains to the appointedtimeof the end.
Then I said,"My lord,whatare these?"And the angelwho was speakingwith me saidto me, "I will showyou whattheseare."
ThenHe leftthe crowdsand wentinto the house.And His disciplescameto Him and said,"Explainto us the parableof the taresof the field."
"Thereforewhenyou seethe ABOMINATIONOF DESOLATIONwhich was spokenof throughDanielthe prophet,standingin the holyplace(let the readerunderstand),
"And thenthe signof the Sonof Manwill appearin the sky,and thenallthe tribesof the earthwill mourn,and they will seethe SONOF MANCOMINGON THE CLOUDSOF THE SKYwith powerand greatglory.
"But whenyou seethe ABOMINATIONOF DESOLATIONstandingwhereit shouldnot be (let the readerunderstand),thenthosewhoare in Judeamust fleeto the mountains.
sothat WHILE SEEING,THEY MAY SEEAND NOT PERCEIVE,AND WHILE HEARING,THEY MAY HEARAND NOT UNDERSTAND,OTHERWISETHEY MIGHT RETURNAND BE FORGIVEN."
He said,"No;ratherI indeedcomenow[as] captainof the hostof the LORD."And Joshuafellon his faceto the earth,and boweddown,and saidto him, "Whathas my lordto sayto his servant?"
and in the middleof the lampstands[I saw] one likea sonof man,clothedin a robe reaching to the feet,and girdedacrossHis chestwith a goldensash.
Hereis wisdom.Let him who hasunderstandingcalculatethe numberof the beast,for the numberis that of a man;and his numberis six hundredand sixty-six.
