Thereforewhen Pilateheardthesewords,he broughtJesusout, and sat downon the judgment seatat a placecalledThe Pavement,but in Hebrew,Gabbatha.
Festusthen,having arrivedin the province,threedayslaterwentup to Jerusalemfrom Caesarea.
But Paulsaid,"I amstandingbeforeCaesar'stribunal,whereI oughtto be tried.I have donenowrongto [the] Jews,as you alsovery wellknow.
"Soafter they had assembledhere,I did not delay,but on the nextday took my seaton the tribunaland orderedthe manto be broughtbefore me.
Festusthenansweredthat Paulwas being kept in custodyat Caesareaand that he himselfwas aboutto leaveshortly.
"Therefore,"he said,"let the influential menamongyou gothere with me, and ifthere is anythingwrongaboutthe man,let them prosecutehim."
But Philipfoundhimself at Azotus,and as he passed throughhe kept preaching the gospelto allthe citiesuntilhe cameto Caesarea.
For we mustallappearbeforethe judgment seatof Christ,sothat each onemay be recompensedfor his deeds in the body,accordingto whathe has done,whethergoodorbad.
But you have dishonoredthe poor man.Is it not the richwho oppressyou and personallydragyou into court?
