But when Paulwas aboutto openhis mouth,Galliosaidto the Jews,"Ifit were a matterof wrongorof viciouscrime,OJews,it would be reasonablefor me to putup with you;
But whenthey stretchedhim out with thongs,Paulsaidto the centurionwho was standingby, "Is it lawfulfor you to scourgea manwho is a Romanand uncondemned?"
But Paulsaid,"I amstandingbeforeCaesar'stribunal,whereI oughtto be tried.I have donenowrongto [the] Jews,as you alsovery wellknow.
Thenwhen Festushad conferredwith his council,he answered,"You have appealedto Caesar,to Caesaryou shall go."
"But when Paulappealedto be heldin custodyfor the Emperor'sdecision,I orderedhim to be kept in custodyuntilI sendhim to Caesar."
"But I foundthat he had committednothingworthyof death;and since he himselfappealedto the Emperor,I decidedto sendhim.
And Agrippasaidto Festus,"Thismanmighthave beenset freeifhe had not appealedto Caesar."
"But when the Jewsobjected,I was forcedto appealto Caesar,not that I hadanyaccusation againstmy nation.
who bothkilledthe LordJesusand the prophets,and droveus out. They are not pleasingto God,but hostileto allmen,
"The MightyOne,God,the LORD,the MightyOne,God,the LORD!He knows,and may Israelitselfknow.If[it was] in rebellion,or ifin an unfaithfulactagainst the LORDdo not saveus thisday!
Then Davidsaidto himself,"NowI will perishonedayby the handof Saul.Thereis nothingbetterfor me thanto escapeinto the landof the Philistines.Saulthen will despairof searchingfor me anymorein allthe territoryof Israel,and I will escapefrom his hand."
