Now Adonijahand allthe guestswho[were] with him heard[it] as they finishedeating.When Joabheardthe soundof the trumpet,he said,"Whyis the citymakingsuch an uproar?"
But they were saying,"Not duringthe festival,otherwisea riotmight occuramongthe people."
Thenthe soldiersof the governortookJesusinto the Praetoriumand gatheredthe whole[Roman] cohortaroundHim.
for they were saying,"Not duringthe festival,otherwisethere might be a riotof the people."
"They will makeyou outcasts from the synagogue,but an houris comingfor everyonewho killsyou to thinkthat he is offeringserviceto God.
Sothe [Roman] cohortand the commanderand the officersof the Jews,arrestedJesusand boundHim,
Now[there was] a manat CaesareanamedCornelius,a centurionof what was calledthe Italiancohort,
But the Jews,becoming jealousand taking alongsomewickedmenfrom the market place,formed a moband setthe cityin an uproar;and attackingthe houseof Jason,they were seekingto bringthem out to the people.
"For indeedwe are in dangerof being accusedof a riotin connectionwith today'sevents, since there is no[real] cause[for it], and in thisconnectionwe will be unableto accountfor thisdisorderly gathering."
"Thenyou are not the Egyptianwho sometimeagostirred up a revoltand ledthe four thousandmenof the Assassinsout into the wilderness?"
They listenedto him up to thisstatement,and [then] they raisedtheir voicesand said,"Awaywith such a fellowfrom the earth,for he should not be allowedto live!"
Paulcalledoneof the centurionsto him and said,"Leadthisyoung manto the commander,for he hassomethingto reportto him."
But Felix,havinga more exactknowledgeaboutthe Way,put them off,saying,"WhenLysiasthe commandercomes down,I will decideyour case."
"And he eventriedto desecratethe temple;and thenwe arrestedhim. [We wantedto judgehim accordingto our own Law.
"But Lysiasthe commandercame along,and with muchviolencetookhim out of our hands,
So,on the next daywhen Agrippacametogetherwith Berniceamidgreatpomp,and enteredthe auditoriumaccompaniedby the commandersand the prominentmenof the city,at the commandof Festus,Paulwas broughtin.
"For thisreason[some] Jewsseizedme in the templeand triedto put me to death.
