For Paulhad decidedto sail pastEphesussothat he wouldnot have to spend timein Asia;for he was hurryingto be in Jerusalem,ifpossible,on the dayof Pentecost.
"You shall celebratethe Feastof Weeks,[that is], the firstfruitsof the wheatharvest,and the Feastof Ingatheringat the turnof the year.
When he knockedat the doorof the gate,a servant-girlnamedRhodacameto answer.
They passed throughthe Phrygianand Galatianregion,having been forbiddenby the HolySpiritto speakthe wordin Asia;
They cameto Ephesus,and he leftthem there.Nowhe himselfenteredthe synagogueand reasonedwith the Jews.
but taking leaveof them and saying,"I will returnto you againif Godwills,"he set sailfrom Ephesus.
It happenedthat whileApolloswas at Corinth,Paulpassed throughthe uppercountryand cameto Ephesus,and foundsomedisciples.
Nowafterthese thingswere finished,Paulpurposedin the spiritto goto Jerusalemafter he had passed throughMacedoniaand Achaia,saying,"AfterI have beenthere,I mustalsoseeRome."
Whenthe dayof Pentecosthad come,they were alltogetherin oneplace.
But we, going aheadto the ship,set sailfor Assos,intendingfrom thereto takePaulon board;for sohe had arrangedit, intendinghimselfto go by land.
And whenthey had cometo him, he saidto them, "You yourselvesknow,from the firstdaythat I set footin Asia,howI was with you the wholetime,
"And now,behold,boundin spirit,I am on my wayto Jerusalem,not knowingwhat will happento me there,
And he was accompaniedby Sopaterof Berea,[the son] of Pyrrhus,and by Aristarchusand Secundusof the Thessalonians,and Gaiusof Derbe,and Timothy,and Tychicusand Trophimusof Asia.
We sailedfrom Philippiafterthe daysof UnleavenedBread, and cameto them at Troaswithinfivedays;and therewe stayedsevendays.
After lookingup the disciples,we stayedtheresevendays;and they kept tellingPaulthroughthe Spiritnot to set footin Jerusalem.
"NowafterseveralyearsI cameto bringalmsto my nationand to presentofferings;
But I will remainin EphesusuntilPentecost;
