While he was sittingon the judgment seat,his wifesenthim [a message], saying,"Have nothingto do with that righteous Man;for last nightI sufferedgreatlyin a dreambecauseof Him."
Thereforewhen Pilateheardthesewords,he broughtJesusout, and sat downon the judgment seatat a placecalledThe Pavement,but in Hebrew,Gabbatha.
Thenthe proconsulbelievedwhen he sawwhat had happened,being amazedat the teachingof the Lord.
But the Jewsincitedthe devoutwomenof prominenceand the leading menof the city,and instigateda persecutionagainstPauland Barnabas,and drovethem out of their district.
whowas with the proconsul,SergiusPaulus,a manof intelligence.This mansummonedBarnabasand Sauland soughtto hearthe wordof God.
But Elymasthe magician(for sohis nameis translated)was opposingthem, seekingto turnthe proconsulawayfrom the faith.
But Jewscamefrom Antiochand Iconium,and having won overthe crowds,they stonedPauland draggedhim out of the city,supposinghim to be dead.
But the Jewswho disbelievedstirredup the mindsof the Gentilesand embitteredthem againstthe brethren.
But whenthe Jewsof Thessalonicafoundout that the wordof Godhad been proclaimedby Paulin Bereaalso,they camethere as well,agitatingand stirringup the crowds.
But the Jews,becoming jealousand taking alongsomewickedmenfrom the market place,formed a moband setthe cityin an uproar;and attackingthe houseof Jason,they were seekingto bringthem out to the people.
And he settled[there] a yearand sixmonths,teachingthe wordof Godamongthem.
And when he wantedto go acrossto Achaia,the brethrenencouragedhim and wroteto the disciplesto welcomehim; and when he had arrived,he greatlyhelpedthosewho had believedthroughgrace,
Nowafterthese thingswere finished,Paulpurposedin the spiritto goto Jerusalemafter he had passed throughMacedoniaand Achaia,saying,"AfterI have beenthere,I mustalsoseeRome."
But Paulsaid,"I amstandingbeforeCaesar'stribunal,whereI oughtto be tried.I have donenowrongto [the] Jews,as you alsovery wellknow.
For Macedoniaand Achaiahave been pleasedto makea contributionfor the pooramong the saintsin Jerusalem.
also[greet] the churchthat is in their house.GreetEpaenetus,my beloved,whois the first convertto Christfrom Asia.
NowI urgeyou, brethren(you knowthe householdof Stephanas,that they were the first fruitsof Achaia,and that they have devotedthemselvesfor ministryto the saints),
Paul,an apostleof ChristJesusby the willof God,and Timothy[our] brother,To the churchof Godwhich is at Corinthwith allthe saintswho are throughoutAchaia:
As the truthof Christis in me, thisboastingof minewill not be stoppedin the regionsof Achaia.
[I have been] on frequentjourneys,in dangersfrom rivers,dangersfrom robbers,dangersfrom [my] countrymen,dangersfrom the Gentiles,dangersin the city,dangersin the wilderness,dangerson the sea,dangersamongfalse brethren;
for I knowyour readiness,of whichI boastaboutyou to the Macedonians,[namely], that Achaiahas been preparedsincelast year,and your zealhas stirredup mostof them.
For you, brethren,becameimitatorsof the churchesof Godin ChristJesusthat are in Judea,for you alsoenduredthe samesufferingsat the handsof your owncountrymen,evenas they [did] from the Jews,
hinderingus from speakingto the Gentilessothat they may be saved;with the result that they alwaysfill up the measureof their sins.But wrathhas comeupon them to the utmost.
But you have dishonoredthe poor man.Is it not the richwho oppressyou and personallydragyou into court?
