but after we had already sufferedand been mistreatedin Philippi,as you know,we had the boldnessin our Godto speakto you the gospelof Godamidmuchopposition.
And accordingto Paul'scustom,he wentto them, and for threeSabbathsreasonedwith them from the Scriptures,
And he was accompaniedby Sopaterof Berea,[the son] of Pyrrhus,and by Aristarchusand Secundusof the Thessalonians,and Gaiusof Derbe,and Timothy,and Tychicusand Trophimusof Asia.
but his disciplestookhim by nightand let him downthrough[an opening in] the wall,loweringhim in a large basket.
Jonathansaidto David,"Goin safety,inasmuchas we have swornto eachotherin the nameof the LORD,saying,The LORDwill be betweenme and you, and betweenmy descendantsand your descendantsforever.'"Then he roseand departed,while Jonathanwentinto the city.
At thistimePeterstoodup in the midstof the brethren(a gatheringof aboutone hundredand twentypersonswas there together),and said,
and immediatelyhe [began] to proclaimJesusin the synagogues,saying,"He is the Sonof God."

Nowwhen they had traveled throughAmphipolisand Apollonia,they cameto Thessalonica,wherethere was a synagogueof the Jews.
And someof them were persuadedand joinedPauland Silas,alongwith a largenumberof the God-fearingGreeksand a numberof the leadingwomen.
When they did not findthem, they [began] draggingJasonand somebrethrenbeforethe city authorities,shouting,"These menwho have upsetthe worldhave comeherealso;
