"Brethren,the Scripturehadto be fulfilled,whichthe HolySpiritforetoldby the mouthof DavidconcerningJudas,who becamea guideto thosewho arrestedJesus.
"The Spiritof the LORDspokeby me, And His wordwas on my tongue.
Thisis the wordof the LORDwhichHe spoketo Jehu,saying,"Your sonsto the fourthgeneration shall siton the throneof Israel."And soit was.
Evenmy closefriendin whomI trusted,Who atemy bread,Has liftedup his heelagainstme.
Thenoneof the twelve,namedJudasIscariot,wentto the chief priests
While He was stillspeaking,behold,Judas,oneof the twelve,cameup accompaniedby a largecrowdwith swordsand clubs,[who came] from the chief priestsand eldersof the people.
"Howthenwill the Scripturesbe fulfilled,[which say] that it musthappenthis way?"
"But allthishas taken placeto fulfillthe Scripturesof the prophets."Thenallthe disciplesleftHim and fled.
"Davidhimselfsaidin the HolySpirit,THE LORDSAIDTO MY LORD,"SITAT MY RIGHT HAND,UNTILI PUTYOUR ENEMIESBENEATHYOUR FEET."'
Immediatelywhile He was stillspeaking,Judas,oneof the twelve,cameup accompaniedby a crowdwith swordsand clubs,[who were] from the chief priestsand the scribesand the elders.
While He was stillspeaking,behold,a crowd[came], and the one calledJudas,oneof the twelve,was precedingthem; and he approachedJesusto kissHim.
"Ifhe calledthem gods,to whomthe wordof Godcame(and the Scripturecannotbe broken),
"I do not speakof allof you. I knowthe onesI have chosen;but [it is] that the Scripturemay be fulfilled,HE WHO EATSMY BREADHAS LIFTEDUP HIS HEELAGAINSTME.'
"WhileI was with them, I was keepingthem in Your namewhichYou have givenMe; and I guardedthem and not oneof them perishedbut the sonof perdition,sothat the Scripturewould be fulfilled.
For these thingscame to passto fulfillthe Scripture,"NOT A BONEOF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN."
"For it is writtenin the bookof Psalms,LET HIS HOMESTEADBE MADEDESOLATE,AND LET NO ONEDWELLIN IT'; and, 'LET ANOTHER MANTAKEHIS OFFICE.'
Afterthe readingof the Lawand the Prophetsthe synagogue officialssentto them, saying,"Brethren,ifyou have anywordof exhortationfor the people,sayit."
"Thereforelet it be knownto you, brethren,that throughHim forgivenessof sinsis proclaimedto you,
Afterthey had stopped speaking,Jamesanswered,saying,"Brethren,listento me.
After there had beenmuchdebate,Peterstoodup and saidto them, "Brethren,you knowthat in the earlydaysGodmade a choiceamongyou, that by my mouththe Gentileswould hearthe wordof the gospeland believe.
this[Man], deliveredover by the predeterminedplanand foreknowledgeof God,you nailed to a crossby the handsof godless menand put [Him] to death.
Nowwhen they heard[this], they were piercedto the heart,and saidto Peterand the restof the apostles,"Brethren,whatshall we do?"
"Brethrenand fathers,hearmy defensewhich I now[offer] to you."
Paul,looking intentlyat the Council,said,"Brethren,I have lived my lifewith a perfectlygoodconsciencebefore Godup to thisday."
But perceivingthat onegroupwere Sadduceesand the otherPharisees,Paul[began] cryingout in the Council,"Brethren,I ama Pharisee,a sonof Pharisees;I am on trialfor the hopeand resurrectionof the dead!"
AfterthreedaysPaul called togetherthosewho were the leading menof the Jews,and when they came together,he [began] sayingto them, "Brethren,though I had donenothingagainstour peopleorthe customsof our fathers,yet I was deliveredas a prisonerfrom Jerusaleminto the handsof the Romans.
And when they did not agreewith one another,they [began] leavingafter Paulhad spokenone[parting] word,"The HolySpiritrightlyspokethroughIsaiahthe prophetto your fathers,
And he said,"Hearme, brethrenand fathers!The Godof gloryappearedto our fatherAbrahamwhen he was in Mesopotamia,beforehe livedin Haran,
seeking to knowwhatpersonortimethe Spiritof Christwithinthem was indicatingas He predictedthe sufferingsof Christand the gloriesto follow.
for noprophecywas evermadeby an act of humanwill,but menmovedby the HolySpiritspokefrom God.
For it would be betterfor them not to have knownthe wayof righteousness,thanhaving knownit, to turn awayfrom the holycommandmenthandedon to them.
