But the kingsaid,"Whathave I to do with you, O sonsof Zeruiah?Ifhe curses,and ifthe LORDhas toldhim, 'CurseDavid,'then whoshall say,'Whyhave you doneso?'"
"Sayto Amasa,'Are you not my boneand my flesh?May Goddosoto me, and morealso,ifyou will not be commanderof the armybeforeme continuallyin placeof Joab.'"
Davidthen said,"Whathave I to do with you, O sonsof Zeruiah,that you should this daybe an adversaryto me? Should anymanbe putto deathin Israeltoday?For do I not knowthat I am kingoverIsraeltoday?"
Then the kingsaidto his servants,"Do you not knowthat a princeand a greatmanhas fallenthisdayin Israel?
"The LORDwill returnhis bloodon his own head,becausehe fellupon twomenmorerighteousand betterthanhe and killedthem with the sword,while my fatherDaviddid not know[it]: Abnerthe sonof Ner,commanderof the armyof Israel,and Amasathe sonof Jether,commanderof the armyof Judah.
"Nowtherefore, do not let him gounpunished,for you are a wiseman;and you will knowwhatyou ought to doto him, and you will bringhis grayhairdownto Sheolwith blood."
Davidsaid,"My sonSolomonis youngand inexperienced,and the housethat is to be builtfor the LORDshall be exceedinglymagnificent,famousand gloriousthroughout alllands.[Therefore] nowI will makepreparationfor it." So Davidmadeamplepreparationsbeforehis death.
Then KingDavidsaidto the entireassembly,"My sonSolomon,whom aloneGodhas chosen,is still youngand inexperiencedand the workis great;for the templeis not for man,but for the LORDGod.
and worthlessmengatheredabouthim, scoundrels,who provedtoostrongfor Rehoboam,the sonof Solomon,when he was youngand timidand could not holdhis ownagainstthem.
Every morningI will destroyallthe wickedof the land,So as to cutofffrom the cityof the LORDallthose who doiniquity.
Requitethem according to their workand according to the evilof their practices;Requitethem according to the deedsof their hands;Repaythem their recompense.
And lovingkindnessis Yours, O Lord,For You recompensea manaccording to his work.
His mischiefwill returnupon his own head,And his violencewill descendupon his own pate.
And allthe hornsof the wickedHe will cutoff,[But] the hornsof the righteouswill be liftedup.
"He who strikesa manso that he diesshall surelybe putto death.
A kingwho sitson the throneof justiceDispersesallevilwith his eyes.
Takeawaythe wickedbeforethe king,And his thronewill be establishedin righteousness.
Woeto the wicked![It will go] badly[with him], For whathe deserveswill be doneto him.
and sayto him, 'Takecareand be calm,havenofearand do not be faintheartedbecauseof thesetwostubsof smolderingfirebrands,on account of the fierceangerof Rezinand Aramand the sonof Remaliah.
So KingZedekiahsaid,"Behold,he is in your hands;for the kingcan[do] nothingagainst you."
Thenthe kinggaveorders,and Danielwas broughtin and castinto the lions'den.The kingspokeand saidto Daniel,"Your Godwhomyou constantlyservewill Himselfdeliveryou."
"But ifyou will not doso,behold,you have sinnedagainst the LORD,and be sureyour sinwill findyou out.
for it is a ministerof Godto you for good.But ifyou dowhatis evil,be afraid;for it does not bearthe swordfor nothing;for it is a ministerof God,an avengerwho brings wrathon the one who practicesevil.
Alexanderthe coppersmithdidme muchharm;the Lordwill repayhim accordingto his deeds.
Also Godreturnedallthe wickednessof the menof Shechemon their heads,and the curseof Jothamthe sonof Jerubbaalcameupon them.
