Now according to the ordinanceof his fatherDavid,he appointedthe divisionsof the priestsfor their service,and the Levitesfor their dutiesof praiseand ministeringbeforethe priestsaccording to the dailyrule,and the gatekeepersby their divisionsat everygate;for Davidthe manof Godhad socommanded.
"The Spiritof the LORDspokeby me, And His wordwas on my tongue.
Now behold,there camea manof Godfrom Judahto Bethelby the wordof the LORD,while Jeroboamwas standingby the altarto burnincense.
So he leftAsaphand his relativestherebeforethe arkof the covenantof the LORDto ministerbeforethe arkcontinually,as every day'sworkrequired;
And with them [were] Hemanand Jeduthun[with] trumpetsand cymbalsfor those who should soundaloud, and [with] instruments[for] the songsof God,and the sonsof Jeduthunfor the gate.
Now when Davidreachedoldage,he madehis sonSolomonkingoverIsrael.
Now the divisionsof the descendantsof Aaron[were these]: the sonsof Aaron[were] Nadab,Abihu,Eleazarand Ithamar.
David,with Zadokof the sonsof Eleazarand Ahimelechof the sonsof Ithamar,dividedthem according to their officesfor their ministry.
Moreover, Davidand the commandersof the armysetapartfor the service[some] of the sonsof Asaphand of Hemanand of Jeduthun,who [were] to prophesywith lyres,harpsand cymbals;and the numberof thosewho performedtheir servicewas:
For the divisionsof the gatekeepers[there were] of the Korahites,Meshelemiahthe sonof Kore,of the sonsof Asaph.
"All[this]," [said David], "the LORDmade me understandin writingby His handupon me, allthe detailsof this pattern."
Now the gatekeepers[were] Shallumand Akkuband Talmonand Ahimanand their relatives(Shallumthe chief
The gatekeeperswere on the foursides,to the east,west,northand south.
He stationedthe gatekeepersof the houseof the LORD,so that noone would enter[who was] in anywayunclean.
"Thisis the thingwhichyou shall do:one thirdof you, of the priestsand Leviteswho comein on the sabbath,[shall be] gatekeepers,
He then stationedthe Levitesin the houseof the LORDwith cymbals,with harpsand with lyres,according to the commandof Davidand of Gadthe king'sseer,and of Nathanthe prophet;for the commandwas from the LORDthroughHis prophets.
And Hezekiahappointedthe divisionsof the priestsand the Levitesby their divisions,eachaccordingto his service,[both] the priestsand the Levites,for burntofferingsand for peaceofferings,to ministerand to givethanksand to praisein the gatesof the campof the LORD.
So the servicewas prepared,and the priestsstoodat their stationsand the Levitesby their divisionsaccording to the king'scommand.
The singers,the sonsof Asaph,[were] also at their stationsaccording to the commandof David,Asaph,Heman,and Jeduthunthe king'sseer;and the gatekeepersat eachgatedid not haveto departfrom their service,becausethe Levitestheir brethrenpreparedfor them.
"Prepare[yourselves] by your fathers'householdsin your divisions,according to the writingof Davidkingof Israeland according to the writingof his sonSolomon.
When the priestscameforthfrom the holyplace (for allthe priestswho were presenthad sanctifiedthemselves, withoutregardto divisions),
And they did not departfrom the commandmentof the kingto the priestsand Levitesin anymanneror concerning the storehouses.
Then they appointedthe prieststo their divisionsand the Levitesin their ordersfor the serviceof Godin Jerusalem,as it is writtenin the bookof Moses.
The headsof the Levites[were] Hashabiah,Sherebiahand Jeshuathe sonof Kadmiel,with their brothersoppositethem, to praise[and] givethanks,as prescribedby Davidthe manof God,divisioncorrespondingto division.
Mattaniah,Bakbukiah,Obadiah,Meshullam,Talmon[and] Akkub[were] gatekeeperskeepingwatchat the storehousesof the gates.
and his kinsmen,Shemaiah,Azarel,Milalai,Gilalai,Maai,Nethanel,Judah[and] Hanani,with the musicalinstrumentsof Davidthe manof God.And Ezrathe scribewent beforethem.
In the daysof Herod,kingof Judea,there was a priestnamedZacharias,of the divisionof Abijah;and he had a wifefrom the daughtersof Aaron,and her namewas Elizabeth.
Nowit happened[that] whilehe was performing his priestly servicebeforeGodin the [appointed] orderof his division,
"AfterHe had removedhim, He raisedup Davidto be their king,concerning whomHe alsotestifiedand said,I HAVE FOUNDDAVIDthe son of Jesse,A MANAFTERMY HEART,whowill doallMy will.'
"For David,after he had servedthe purposeof Godin his owngeneration,fell asleep,and was laidamonghis fathersand underwentdecay;
Now thisis the blessingwith whichMosesthe manof Godblessedthe sonsof Israelbeforehis death.
