Rehoboamlivedin Jerusalemand builtcitiesfor defensein Judah.
He actedwiselyand distributedsomeof his sonsthroughallthe territoriesof Judahand Benjaminto allthe fortifiedcities,and he gavethem foodin abundance.And he soughtmanywives[for them].
Thus he builtBethlehem,Etam,Tekoa,
He capturedthe fortifiedcitiesof Judahand cameas faras Jerusalem.
He also removedthe highplacesand the incensealtarsfrom allthe citiesof Judah.And the kingdomwas undisturbedunderhim.
Then KingAsabroughtallJudah,and they carriedaway the stonesof Ramahand its timberwith whichBaashahad been building,and with them he fortifiedGebaand Mizpah.
So Jehoshaphatgrewgreaterand greater,and he builtfortressesand storecitiesin Judah.
He placedtroopsin allthe fortifiedcitiesof Judah,and setgarrisonsin the landof Judahand in the citiesof EphraimwhichAsahis fatherhad captured.
Their fathergavethem manygiftsof silver,goldand preciousthings,with fortifiedcitiesin Judah,but he gavethe kingdomto Jehorambecausehe was the firstborn.
Now he wentout and warredagainst the Philistines,and brokedownthe wallof Gathand the wallof Jabnehand the wallof Ashdod;and he builtcitiesin [the area of] Ashdodand among the Philistines.
Moreover, he builtcitiesin the hillcountryof Judah,and he builtfortressesand towerson the wooded[hills].
when the armyof the kingof Babylonwas fightingagainstJerusalemand againstallthe remainingcitiesof Judah,[that is], Lachishand Azekah,for they [alone] remainedas fortifiedcitiesamong the citiesof Judah.
