wantingto be teachers of the Law,even though they do not understandeitherwhatthey are sayingorthe matters aboutwhichthey make confident assertions.
"Let them alone;they are blindguidesof the blind.And ifa blind manguidesa blind man,bothwill fallinto a pit."
And answeringJesus,they said,"We do not know."He alsosaidto them, "Neitherwill I tellyou by whatauthorityI dothese things.
Then,afterthreedaysthey foundHim in the temple,sittingin the midstof the teachers,bothlisteningto them and asking them questions.
Some mencame downfrom Judeaand [began] teachingthe brethren,"Unlessyou are circumcisedaccording to the customof Moses,you cannotbe saved."
Professingto be wise,they became fools,
Thisis the only thingI wantto findout from you: did you receivethe Spiritby the worksof the Law,orby hearingwith faith?
So then,does He who providesyou with the Spiritand worksmiraclesamongyou, do it by the worksof the Law,orby hearingwith faith?
Tellme, you who wantto be underlaw,do you not listento the law?
he is conceited[and] understandsnothing;but he has a morbid interestin controversial questionsand disputes about words,out of whichariseenvy,strife,abusive language,evilsuspicions,
alwayslearningand neverableto cometo the knowledgeof the truth.
Let not many[of you] becometeachers,my brethren,knowingthat as such we will incura stricterjudgment.
But these,likeunreasoninganimals,bornas creatures of instinctto be capturedand killed,revilingwherethey have no knowledge,will in the destructionof thosecreatures alsobe destroyed,
