The kingsaidto Shimei,"You shall not die."Thus the kingsworeto him.

"For he tookhis lifein his handand struckthe Philistine,and the LORDbroughtabouta greatdeliverancefor allIsrael;you saw[it] and rejoiced.Whythen will you sinagainst innocentbloodby puttingDavidto deathwithouta cause?"
