Abneralsospokein the hearingof Benjamin;and in additionAbnerwentto speakin the hearingof Davidin Hebronallthat seemed goodto Israeland to the wholehouseof Benjamin.
Eachmansaidto his mate,"Come,let us castlotsso we may learnon whoseaccountthiscalamity[has struck] us." So they castlotsand the lotfellon Jonah.
Of Benjaminhe said,"May the belovedof the LORDdwellin securityby Him, Who shieldshim allthe day,And he dwellsbetweenHis shoulders."
"But you have todayrejectedyour God,whodeliversyou from allyour calamitiesand your distresses;yet you have said,'No,but seta kingoverus!' Nowtherefore, presentyourselves beforethe LORDby your tribesand by your clans."
Then he broughtthe tribeof Benjaminnearby its families,and the Matritefamilywas taken.And Saulthe sonof Kishwas taken;but when they lookedfor him, he could not be found.
Saulsaid,"Drawnearhere,allyou chiefsof the people,and investigateand seehowthissinhas happenedtoday.
Therefore, Saulsaidto the LORD,the Godof Israel,"Givea perfect[lot]." And Jonathanand Saulwere taken,but the peopleescaped.
