Thussaysthe LORD,"Heavenis My throneand the earthis My footstool.Wherethenis a houseyou could buildfor Me? And whereis a placethat I may rest?
"But whois ableto builda housefor Him, for the heavensand the highestheavenscannotcontainHim? So whoam I, that I should builda housefor Him, exceptto burn[incense] beforeHim?
"Can a manhidehimself in hidingplacesSo I do not seehim?" declaresthe LORD."Do I not fillthe heavensand the earth?"declaresthe LORD.
"But will Godindeeddwellwith mankindon the earth?Behold,heavenand the highestheavencannotcontainYou; howmuchlessthishousewhichI have built.
"Behold,to the LORDyour Godbelong heavenand the highestheavens,the earthand allthat is in it.
The LORDis highaboveallnations;His gloryis abovethe heavens.
And the Wordbecameflesh,and dweltamongus, and we sawHis glory,gloryas of the only begottenfrom the Father,fullof graceand truth.
Seehow greata lovethe Fatherhas bestowedon us, that we would be calledchildrenof God;and [such] we are. For thisreasonthe worlddoes not knowus, becauseit did not knowHim.
"The Godwho madethe worldand all thingsin it, since He is Lordof heavenand earth,does not dwellin templesmade with hands;
I knowa manin Christwho fourteenyearsago--whetherin the bodyI do not know,orout of the bodyI do not know,Godknows--such a manwas caughtup to the thirdheaven.
Orwhatagreementhas the templeof Godwith idols?For we are the templeof the livingGod;justas Godsaid,"I WILL DWELLIN THEM AND WALK AMONGTHEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD,AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
To Him who ridesupon the highestheavens,which are from ancienttimes;Behold,He speaksforthwith His voice,a mightyvoice.
PraiseHim, highestheavens,And the watersthat are abovethe heavens!
"The housewhichI am about to build[will be] great,for greateris our Godthanallthe gods.
