For he was wiserthanallmen,thanEthanthe Ezrahite,Heman,Calcoland Darda,the sonsof Mahol;and his famewas [known] in allthe surroundingnations.
Now when the queenof Shebaheardabout the fameof Solomonconcerning the nameof the LORD,she cameto testhim with difficultquestions.
Then she saidto the king,"It was a true reportwhichI heardin my own landaboutyour wordsand your wisdom.
behold,I have doneaccording to your words.Behold,I have givenyou a wiseand discerningheart,sothat there has beennoone likeyou beforeyou, norshall one likeyou ariseafteryou.
When Hiramheardthe wordsof Solomon,he rejoicedgreatlyand said,"Blessedbe the LORDtoday,whohas givento Davida wisesonoverthisgreatpeople."
So the LevitesappointedHemanthe sonof Joel,and from his relatives,Asaphthe sonof Berechiah;and from the sonsof Meraritheir relatives,Ethanthe sonof Kushaiah,
So the singers,Heman,Asaphand Ethan[were appointed] to soundaloud cymbalsof bronze;
The sonsof Zerah[were] Zimri,Ethan,Heman,Calcoland Dara;fiveof them in all.
Theseare those who servedwith their sons:From the sonsof the Kohathites[were] Hemanthe singer,the sonof Joel,the sonof Samuel,
And allthe kingsof the earthwere seekingthe presenceof Solomon,to hearhis wisdomwhichGodhad putin his heart.
O LORD,the Godof my salvation,I have criedout by dayand in the nightbeforeYou.
As for everymatterof wisdomand understandingabout whichthe kingconsultedthem, he foundthem tentimesbetterthanallthe magicians[and] conjurerswho[were] in allhis realm.
"[The] Queenof [the] Southwill riseup with thisgenerationat the judgmentand will condemnit, becauseshe camefrom the endsof the earthto hearthe wisdomof Solomon;and behold,something greaterthan Solomonis here.
The newsabout Him spreadthroughoutallSyria;and they broughtto Him allwho were ill,those sufferingwith variousdiseasesand pains,demoniacs,epileptics,paralytics;and He healedthem.
"The Queenof the Southwill riseup with the menof thisgenerationat the judgmentand condemnthem, becauseshe camefrom the endsof the earthto hearthe wisdomof Solomon;and behold,something greaterthan Solomonis here.
in whomare hiddenallthe treasuresof wisdomand knowledge.
