So he saidto the messengersof Ben-hadad,"Tellmy lordthe king,'Allthat you sentfor to your servantat the firstI will do,but thisthingI cannotdo.'"And the messengersdepartedand broughthim wordagain.
Then Asatookallthe silverand the goldwhich were leftin the treasuriesof the houseof the LORDand the treasuriesof the king'shouse,and deliveredthem into the handof his servants.And KingAsasentthem to Ben-hadadthe sonof Tabrimmon,the sonof Hezion,kingof Aram,who livedin Damascus,saying,
Ben-hadadsentto him and said,"May the godsdosoto me and morealso,ifthe dustof Samariawill sufficefor handfulsfor allthe peoplewhofollowme."
Allthe eldersand allthe peoplesaidto him, "Do not listenor consent."
