So they girdedsackclothon their loinsand [put] ropeson their heads,and cameto the kingof Israeland said,"Your servantBen-hadadsays,'Pleaselet me live.'"And he said,"Is he stillalive?He is my brother."
His servantssaidto him, "Beholdnow,we have heardthat the kingsof the houseof Israelare mercifulkings,pleaselet us putsackclothon our loinsand ropeson our heads,and goout to the kingof Israel;perhapshe will saveyour life."
Now the mentookthis as an omen,and quicklycatchinghis word said,"Your brotherBen-hadad."Then he said,"Go,bringhim." Then Ben-hadadcameout to him, and he tookhim up into the chariot.
He saidto him, "Thussaysthe LORD,'Becauseyou have letgoout of [your] handthe manwhom I had devotedto destruction,therefore your lifeshall gofor his life,and your peoplefor his people.'"
And the one who[was] overthe household,and he who[was] overthe city,the elders,and the guardiansof [the children], sent[word] to Jehu,saying,"We are your servants,allthat you sayto us we will do,we will not makeanymanking;dowhatis goodin your sight."
So it will be that whenthe Lordhas completedallHis workon MountZionand on Jerusalem,[He will say], "I will punishthe fruitof the arrogantheartof the kingof Assyriaand the pompof his haughtiness."
