Solomonsaid,"Ifhe is a worthyman,not one of his hairswill fallto the ground;but ifwickednessis foundin him, he will die."
Then she said,"Pleaselet the kingrememberthe LORDyour God,[so that] the avengerof bloodwill not continueto destroy,otherwisethey will destroymy son."And he said,"As the LORDlives,not one hairof your sonshall fallto the ground."
Now it was toldSolomon,saying,"Behold,Adonijahis afraidof KingSolomon,for behold,he has takenholdof the hornsof the altar,saying,'Let KingSolomonswearto me todaythat he will not puthis servantto deathwith the sword.'"
So KingSolomonsent,and they broughthim downfrom the altar.And he cameand prostratedhimself before KingSolomon,and Solomonsaidto him, "Goto your house."
"He does not believethat he will returnfrom darkness,And he is destinedfor the sword.
Righteousnessguardsthe one whose wayis blameless,But wickednesssubvertsthe sinner.
The righteousoneconsidersthe houseof the wicked,Turningthe wickedto ruin.
"But the veryhairsof your headare allnumbered.
"Yetnot a hairof your headwill perish.
"ThereforeI encourageyou to takesome food,for thisis for your preservation,for not a hairfrom the headof anyof you will perish."
But the peoplesaidto Saul,"Must Jonathandie,whohas broughtaboutthisgreatdeliverancein Israel?Farfrom it! As the LORDlives,not one hairof his headshall fallto the ground,for he has workedwith Godthisday."So the peoplerescuedJonathanand he did not die.
