And Adonijahwas afraidof Solomon,and he arose,wentand tookholdof the hornsof the altar.
Then allthe guestsof Adonijahwere terrified;and they aroseand eachwenton his way.
Now it was toldSolomon,saying,"Behold,Adonijahis afraidof KingSolomon,for behold,he has takenholdof the hornsof the altar,saying,'Let KingSolomonswearto me todaythat he will not puthis servantto deathwith the sword.'"
Now the newscameto Joab,for Joabhad followedAdonijah,although he had not followedAbsalom.And Joabfledto the tentof the LORDand tookholdof the hornsof the altar.
The LORDis God,and He has givenus light;Bindthe festivalsacrificewith cordsto the hornsof the altar.
"If,however, a manactspresumptuouslytowardhis neighbor,so as to killhim craftily,you are to takehim [even] from My altar,that he may die.
"You shall makeits hornson its fourcorners;its hornsshall be of one piece with it, and you shall overlayit with bronze.
"Aaronshall makeatonementon its hornsoncea year;he shall makeatonementon it with the bloodof the sinofferingof atonementoncea yearthroughout your generations.It is mostholyto the LORD."

"The altarhearth[shall be] fourcubits;and from the altarhearthshall extend upwardsfourhorns.
